It’s About Creation Not Destruction

The phenomenon began with a Las Vegas Photographer, John Michael Cooper. He wrote an online article about some unusual wedding photos of brides after the ceremony using the phrase.  Mark Eric, another photographer, read the article and pitched the idea to his free spirited bride, in New York City.  The shoot went great and he founded www.trashthedress.com.  A site dedicated to showcasing the best trash-the-dress moments by photographers nationwide.

So what is Trash the Dress?  It’s not about destroying the dress or maybe it is!  It’s about that creative eye of the photographer and the bride’s personality.  It’s a more relaxed fun photo shoot for the bride and even the groom if they choose.  You’ll see photos of couples rolling in the sand, a bride in the middle of the ocean in her wedding gown or a bride in a wedding dress with checkered tennis shoes and black socks, against a graffiti wall. 

Our own Amy Wood, of the Upstate was up to the challenge.  According to www.trashthedress.com, Amy strived to elevate and expand the minds of those believing that traditional is the only way to go, proving that thinking outside the box is what truly inspires everyone too stoked about their photographic images.  Telling a story, while evoking striking and heartfelt emotion is what Amy loves to do.  Amy dares you to be different and to be yourself, as she prides herself with the ability to make everyone feel comfortable and look gorgeous while doing it!  You can view Amy’s work at www.amywoodphotography.com
